The NYSE often honors various leaders and businessmen with the ringing of the opening or closing bells that mark the start and close of trading respectively. On October 29, 2008, the New York Stock Exchange honored LaCrosse Global Fund Services and The N.I.R. Group LLC. by inviting Stuart Feffer, co-CEO of LaCrosse and Corey Ribotsky, Founder and Managing Member of The N.I.R. Group to ring The Opening Bell.

The NYSE was marking the collaboration of LaCrosse and the NIR Group with Hedge Funds for Habitat-NYC, which is an initiative set up by the hedge fund industry to provide New York City families with home ownership opportunity through Habitat for Humanity – New York City.

Corey Ribotsky is the head of The NIR Group, LLC., which runs a “Family of Funds” for investors to invest their money and be able to make good returns. Some of the activities that The NIR Group have been involved in over the years of their investment activities have been hedge funds.

The basic ideas behind a hedge fund are two. Firstly, each fund declares its aim, strategies, and financial spheres of activities. So each fund is unique and carefully defined so that the investor knows exactly what he is getting into. Secondly, the funds uses certain investments to secure other investments to account for possible losses. This is called hedging, and it means that the fund will try and offset the risk of investments in certain spheres by using a number of different strategies. Most notably, short selling is one of the methods used to do this.

Successful hedge funds – as well as general investment funds, like Ribotsky’s NIR Group – can do a lot for the investment manager, the investor, and the fund itself.

The NIR Group, LLC manages a “Family of Funds” that aim to provide their investors with varied investment strategies. The underlying concept of the NIR approach it to have separate funds that are each individually managed. This specialization means that each fund has its own team of investment experts with individual and independent strategies. The tremendous growth that NIR has seen since opening in 1999 proves that aside from many astute investment decisions the design and functioning of the funds and their management are successful.

The basic strategies of NIR Group are defined by the basic investment principles that guide many investors, namely, mitigating risk and attempting to produce returns in all market environments. The successes in these mark the implementation of the investment strategies as hugely successful, and it is this implementation – together with other unique strategies – that assure the success of NIR’s Family of funds.

Corey Ribotsky heads the Nir Group as Managing Member.
